Guest Blogging: Need Supply Co.
For the month of March, we’ve asked Kate Merchant of thank you, ok to contribute to our blog. Now living in Toronto, Canada, Katie started her blog while living in South Korea a few years ago, and it has become a mainstay around here. She’s got an enormous love of magazines, especially Bad Day, Apartamento, Acne Paper, etc, and spent time working at Worn Fashion Journal, an independent fashion publication in Toronto. Some of her other favorite things are cooking, traveling, beauty products, and over sized black clothing. We can’t wait to see what Katie’s got to share with us.
I'll be posting a few times a week throughout the month over there, and I wanted to share the first post I did here, as well. Toronto-based artist Winnie Truong is one of my favourites, and her latest exhibition, A Slow Immersion, is currently on display at ESP Gallery - if you live in Toronto go see it, right this minute! Ahhh:

wild at heart interview
thank you, ok indulges that irksome want for reverie against the pragmatism of our
days and the irrepressible elitist practices that stand as a relentless
source of conflict in our culture. The optimistic temperament, often
forfeited for a cultivated kind of confidence is a familiar discord but
one that defines and differentiates a well-appointed maven like Katie
Merchant.
With a discerning eye and an indelible appetite for the unfeigned, open hand, Merchant retains a certain grace and reactivity in the epicurean sensibilities that frame her daily pursuits. Shop fronts, interiors, still lifes and a few toothsome table settings, each carry their own richness, coquetry and intrigue.

I have an interview on wild at heart - you can read it here. I'm in good company, with Natalie, Siri, and Jennilee so far. Thank you, Zoe.
Also, in her interview, Jennilee mentioned this editorial from the NYT, on being not dead, which truly came at a perfect time for me to read. So perfect.

BLOOD ORANGE
Blood orange season! I've been eating them on their own lots and also in this winter salad inspired by one of Bernadette's beautiful posts. I used:
arugula/spinach
beets
pomegranate seeds
blood orange sections
goat cheese
hazelnuts
+
a drizzle of olive oil/red wine vinegar
sea salt
Pretty and delicious.
And, here's a little Blood Orange for the ears, too ;)
